Lonely Planet has spoken, and now your travel itinerary for 2014 should be just about set. This week, the online guide to the globe released its 25 best places series. LP takes a look ahead to the places around the world that are expected to be a hot travel destination for one reason or another. For instance, Brazil is at the head of the Top 10 Countries on the Best in Travel 2014 list because the country is hosting soccer’s World Cup; it’s going to be a big year. They also list the Top 10 City destinations for 2014, and 14 other lists, including things such as the best honeymoon spots. So spend this weekend browsing through it and making those 2014 travel plans. Good times.

Not to be outdone, Conde Nast Traveler offers up its Readers Choice Awards for the 25 best island destinations. Number one? No surprise – Maui.

We’ve written about some of the world’s great destination marathons in the past. This week, the New York Times’ Emily Brennan looked at a way to make traveling to a marathon a little easier logistically – booking your entry, travel and accommodations through a so-called “international tour partner.”

If you don’t want to travel the world to run, how about for a nice relaxing up of Joe?  Of course, getting a really great cup of coffee isn’t just about the stuff in the cup; it’s about the experience. At USA Today the folks from Food & Wine take a look at 10 of the coolest coffee cultures around the globe.

We live in a 140-character world. Everything seems to be consumed in smaller and smaller chunks. And now, that includes study abroad programs. The Wall Street Journal’s Melissa Korn reports on the new abridged study abroad programs that last just a couple weeks. While they aren’t as life-changing as several months on your own in a foreign land, students say they just want to be sure to squeeze in some new experiences.

You know what’s nice? Being nice. That typically has not been the modus operandi of Ryanair, but now Anna Brones reports at Gadling that the low fare airline has decided that it needs to be a little more accommodating to its passengers.
